17. MONTAGE – VARIOUS
A) INT. SOPHIE’S APARTMENT – DAY – Frankie is reading a script while Sophie is coaching him.
HYMIE (V.O.)
After the night Frankie left Laurel I didn’t see him. And word went through the coffee houses that Sophie Cantaro was trying to make an actor out of him.
B) INT. THEATRE – DAY – Sophie and Frankie are talking with a director in the audience while a rehearsal is going on in the background.
HYMIE (V.O.)
Frankie was looking for something, something that made him hungrier and hungrier.
C) INT. THEATRE – DAY – Frankie joins the rehearsal and reads from a script while Sophie sits in the audience.
HYMIE (V.O.)
Sophie got him a part in an off-Broadway show.
D) INT. THEATRE – NIGHT – Frankie and the rest of the cast, in full costume, during a performance of the play--apparently a war drama.
HYMIE (V.O.)
We went to see the show, Laurel and I. We sat in the back. It was good.
We hear some of Frankie’s lines at the end of a scene. The audience applauds.
