70. EXT. FRANKIE’S HOUSE – PATIO - DAY
FRANKIE is lying on a massage table while SAM gives him a rubdown. HYMIE rushes from the house onto the patio carrying a newspaper.
HYMIE
Early papers. Everything hit the fan.
Hymie shows Frankie the paper. The headline reads: “FRANK FANE ACCUSED OF MORALS CHARGE.”
HYMIE (CONT’D)
Some crud dug up what happened to us in Clinton, how we got put in jail on morals charges.
SAM
Oo wee! That ain’t good.
HYMIE
Don’t bother to read. They’ve got all of the facts, right down to the bail jump and the spelling of the Sheriff’s name.
FRANKIE
Give me a gallon of coffee, Sam.
(to Hymie)
What’s the talk around town?
HYMIE
That you’re an ex-pimp and I’m a child molester. I’ve heard of dirty politics but this is the lowest. Putting myself aside for the moment, Frankie, it’s an even lousier break for you.
FRANKIE
(smiling)
They’re saying that too? That it’s a tough break?
HYMIE
Well, sure. Almost everybody in this town lives with the big worry of scandal, so when something like this hits, everybody wonders what if it happened to him.
Frankie hurries into the house with the paper.
HYMIE (CONT’D)
(realizing Frankie has gone)
Hey!
Hymie follows him into the house.
