31. EXT. GOLD CLUB NIGHT CLUB – MAIN ENTRANCE – NIGHT
The Rolls drives up to the main entrance. FRANKIE and CHERYL BAKER get out. Cheryl begins to sign an autograph for a single fan. Frankie walks up and is swarmed by scores of screaming fans. Cheryl is somewhat flustered by their exchanged popularity.
CHERYL
Let’s go inside, Frankie.
FRANKIE
Cool it!

32. INT. GOLD CLUB NIGHT CLUB – FRANKIE’S TABLE - NIGHT
In the lavish restaurant, FRANKIE and CHERYL are shown to their table by a WAITER. A PHOTOGRAPHER comes up to take their picture.
PHOTOGRAPHER
This way, Mr. Fane, please.
Frankie grabs Cheryl’s chin and turns her head away from the camera. Frankie smiles, and the photographer takes the picture.
PHOTOGRAPHER (CONT’D)
Thank you.
CHERYL
(looking around)
Oh, Frankie, isn’t that Hedda Hopper?
WAITER
Would you care for something from the bar?
CHERYL
Yes, I’d like a double vodka gimlet, and a huge, I mean HUGE Green Goddess salad. I just love Green Goddess salad. You will make it that special way for me, won’t you Pierre.
FRANKIE
And scotch and water for me.
(to Cheryl)
And tone it down to a twenty decibel war hoop. Hedda can hear you.
CHERYL
You know that’s getting to be a lousy habit of yours, leaving me standing alone and not paying any attention to me. You know, I really . . .
(noticing Hedda Hopper has walked up)
Really, Frankie, I just love going out with you, and look who’s here. Hello, Hedda.
HEDDA
(subdued to Cheryl)
Hello.
(enthusiastically to Frankie)
Hello, Frankie!
FRANKIE
Hello, Hedda.
HEDDA
Anything going on between you two I should have for the column?
CHERYL
Oh really Hedda, you’re embarrassing us. If there’s anything at all you’ll be the first to know it.
HEDDA
Thank you.
FRANKIE
There’s nothing.
CHERYL
Frankie and I are just inseparable good friends, that’s all.
FRANKIE
We’re nothing.
Frankie notices that Kay Bergdahl and her date have entered the restaurant.
CHERYL
Once you’ve gone out with Frankie, why there’s just nobody else in Hollywood. I just think Frankie is the most dynamic man I’ve ever dated.
FRANKIE
(pointing to Cheryl)
She’s nothing. Excuse me Hedda.
Frankie gets up and leaves the table.
CHERYL
(still to Hedda)
Frankie has the most marvelous sense of humor.
HEDDA
Darling, your laughter is showing. Bye.
